new floors..

We've been thinking about hardwood floors for awhile now. We even put a deposit down for a really nice hand distressed walnut to put in the downstairs in March. At the time we weren't too sure of it. Kevin was still learning how to walk, kids running around crazy over the floors wasn't such a great thought. So we've been putting off scheduling since we couldn't commit spending $10,000 on something that the kids were going to trash. So this weekend, we decided to go and get our deposit back. We were thinking to just re-tile the Kitchen and Family room to get rid of the nasty carpet in the family room. We went in with the intention of doing tile..but then the sales guy brought out this cool looking laminate. We were not thinking laminate at all, since it looked like laminate... He said they just recently started getting this in, it has the look of hand-distress hardwood. We looked at it and was impressed..sooo instead of tile we are now going with the laminate. It's warmer then tile, has more give then tile, better sound then tile... Feel alot better about it, since we're not paying $10,000 on floors for just the downstairs. We could swallow this price....but again.. have a feeling the cost will grow more since we need to redo the fireplace, re-tile the bathroom, redo the baseboard and even considering re-carpeting the updstairs..which means we need to clean out the office..which also means..possibly buying new office furniture.. hmmmm....

With those price tag.. Darin or I need to go out and make "sexy money" to get it all..hmmm...
